01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Add another slice of focaccia to your daily pasta. At Cafe POLEPOLE, lunch starts with a main dish, then you can choose at your own pace whether to add bread, coffee or dessert. The daily pasta comes in A and B sets, each for 1,300 yen. There is also a set with spice curry, whose contents change from day to day, for 1,300 yen. Made from seasonal vegetables and spices, it is the cafe’s own creation. One diner praised the zucchini and dried whitebait aglio e olio, saying the al dente pasta paired well with the crisp whitebait and came with plenty of zucchini. Ask the staff what the pasta and curry are that day. To accompany your pasta, choose rosemary focaccia (450 yen) or vegetable focaccia (500 yen). Both are served cut into a portion for one, and visitors have remarked on the focaccia’s crisp texture.

For coffee after lunch, choose your beans and have them brewed by hand. Hot coffee is 600 yen; the iced coffee, made stronger and rapidly chilled over ice, is 600 yen. Add a drink such as coffee or tea to your lunch for 300 yen. Café au lait is 650 yen, hot or iced, and you can switch to oat milk for an extra 50 yen. For something sweet, the coffee jelly with vanilla ice cream (600 yen) has two layers: coffee and café au lait. There is also tiramisu (650 yen), made by staff member Luis, and Basque-style cheesecake made with 100% rice flour (650 yen). Add a dessert to lunch, or settle in for a coffee and something sweet.

The cafe also welcomes dogs indoors. There are reports from diners who visited with their dogs, and the cafe is also suited to solo dining. For a meal in Iogi that might begin with a daily special and end with dessert, Cafe POLEPOLE is one option to consider.
